Toy Organization Tips

  • Get rid of the toy box! Clutter happens b/c kids dump the box to try to FIND pieces they need to play.
  • Gather ALL toys and put in one place
  • Ask your child to choose 5 of their favorite toys
  • Ask your child to choose 5 toys to give to someone less fortunate
  • Screen time! Or send them off to Grandma’s! You don’t want them around for this part :)
  • Toss broken toys, puzzles with missing pieces, etc.
  • Put good toys they’ve outgrown or no longer play with in boxes/bags and put in car to donate.
  • Assign a bin (clear) for each category of toy and label so child knows where they go.
  • EVERY night have a 5 minute “tidy time” to maintain order and start each day off with a clean slate. Using a timer and making it a game helps!
  • Practice “one in-one out” when they get new toys
  • BEST toys include crafts, puzzles, legos, make-believe, including costumes
